Hospital Admission

In addition to offering NEUROCARE services to Patients already admitted to care facilities by other Doctors (referred to as the NEUROCARE Hospital Liaison Service), NEUROCARE often admit Patients primarily for tests and treatment after assessment at NEUROCARE Clinics or other venues.

As such NEUROCARE Patients benefit from admission to conventional Medical Hospitals, sub-acute Rehabilitation Hospitals, Mental Health Hospitals which we refer to as Therapy Hospitals, Addiction Centers, selected Frail Care facilities, and in some instances tailor-made Private Facilities.

In all instances our Patients enjoy the advantage of NEUROCARE coordinated care either directly, or NEUROCARE monitoring when a third party is used.

We assure that in all instances the most appropriate Care Facility is chosen for each individual Patient chosen on a basis of clinical need (see below).

Hospitalization often implies additional funding benefit for tests or treatment. However, we encourage all Patients to establish potential co-payments etc with Medical Insurance Companies prior to hospitalization.

Approved Venues

NEUROCARE Neuropsychiatric hospitalization takes place to Stellenbosch Medi-Clinic, considered a national Center of Excellence.

By definition Patients requiring both physical health and mental health assessment and treatment is best admitted to a conventional physical health establishment which have developed additional capability to address co-morbid aspects such as confusion (delirium), emotionality (depression, anxiety, agitation), or behavioural disturbance.

NEUROCARE has become a national referral service for Patients suffering co-morbid physical- and and mental health conditions.

Our dedicated services offering Neurological- and Psychiatric specialist input as part of a true multi-disciplinary effort has steadily grown to the the extend that we now facilitate hospitalization to several additional hospitals most notably Medi-Clinic Winelands Orthopedic Hospital, Busamed Paardevlei (Somerset West), as well as several specialist Units at a variety of other locations.

Our latest service offering is an extension of our existing services to Patients suffering enduring mental health difficulties.

As such we are excited to have acquired a substantial number of beds at the newly launched Busamed Mental Health Unit available from April 2026. We trust this General Psychiatry initiative will complement our core Neuropsychiatric service and improve care to many of our Patients who previously had to be referred to Psychiatry facilities in Cape Town.
